Amantani Homestay & Kayak Experience 2D/1N

Day 1: Puno-Amantani Island, Peru

After being picked up from your accommodation, kayak on Lake Titicaca to Amantani Island, where you will spend the night.

Kayak from Puno to the Uros Floating Islands & Amantani Homestay (L/D)
You will be picked up from your hostel between 7:00-8:00am and transferred to the shores of Lake Titicaca where you will meet the tour guide who will give you a security briefing and basic paddling instructions. During the kayak ride you will be on the Titicaca National Reserve, so there is a big chance you will see the wildlife of the lake. After paddling for about one hour you will arrive to the Uros floating islands, where you will have approximately 1.5 hours to float around immersing yourself in this incredible floating reed village. There are more than 50 floating islands and you will have the chance to visit two of them. On the first floating island, your guide will explain to you about the people who live there. Then you will have some free time to walk around, visit the small huts made from reeds, take some pictures and buy a souvenir to support the people of these islands if you wish.
After this visit you will continue on with a 3-hour boat ride to Amantani Island where you will spend the night with a local family. You will be met by the families at the dock and then taken to their houses to enjoy a delicious lunch with them. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to go on an optional hike up to the highest point of this community which is located at about 4,150m (13,600 feet) to enjoy the sunset. There you can admire awe-inspiring views of Lake Titicaca, the Cordillera Real mountain range and the Isla del Sol on the Bolivian side of the lake in the distance. In the evening, after having dinner, the village families will organize a local party for you and dress you up in traditional clothing to enjoy the party and learn how to dance as locals do (optional). Take plenty of pictures of this crazy mix of locals and foreigners all decked-out laughing and dancing together.

Day 2: Amantani Island-Puno, Peru

Take a boat ride to Taquile Island to see local weavers and enjoy a hike. Return to Puno where your tour comes to an end.

Taquile Island & Return to Puno (B)
The next day you will have an early breakfast before saying goodbye to your family and heading over to the neighbouring Taquile Island (1-hour boat ride). The people who live on this island are very famous because they are considered "the best weavers of Peru". There, you will go on a beautiful hike to enjoy the views of the lake. During this hike you will stop to visit the town square of Taquile and visit the handicraft shops to see the typical weaving. The square is also the highest point of the hike (3,950m or 12,960 feet). After enjoying some free time around the square, you will enjoy a typical lunch (not included). Then you will finish the hike going to the second port of the island, where you will take the motorboat back to Puno where your tour will come to an end at 3:30pm approximately.
