3 Day Soweto Orientation
Day 1
On arrival you will meet with our driver at the Tourism Information Desk in terminal A, International Arrivals. Get a glimpse of the City of Gold, Johannesburg, before entering the world-renowned township of Soweto. Arrive at Lebo’s Soweto Backpackers and get settled with a welcome drink and mingle with the other guests, later on in the evening dinner is served.
Day 2
After breakfast, take a 2-hour cycle tour of Soweto (the 4-hour option has an extra cost) that will take you to see some of the most interesting historical sites in the township. Some of the highlights include a workers’ hostel, Meadowlands, the site of the 1976 student uprising, the Hector Pieterson Memorial, Nelson Mandela’s former home and a local pub called a shebeen. If you choose the 4-hour tour, you will end it with a local lunch (kota) - a bread bun filled with delicious Soweto chicken or veggie stew and a drink or two! You can spend your afternoon at our community park playing with the kids and engaging in daily activities at our Youth Club. After a hectic day relax around the dinner table and enjoy a home-cooked meal. Warm up around the fireplace at night listening to our African beats.
Day 3
Fill up on breakfast and then head on to your next adventure.
